The System Modeling Institute was formed to learn more about systems through modeling. It intends to leverage the fact that at an abstract level, systems contain very similar processes. Therefore, whatever principles are discovered in one system can be applied to other systems. Furthermore, this knowledge can be used to improve all different types of systems.
When the systems that we participate in (economic, political, and social) are improved, it affects everyone in the system. That means that a small improvement in the system can have a large impact overall because it affects so many people.
We are a unique combination of:
- Research Institute
- Consulting Company
- Intellectual Explorers Club
- Think Tank
Three areas of focus:
- Systems research with an emphasis on complexity and emergence
- Systems modeling with an emphasis on agent based modeling
- Non-traditional academic study
